K/DA AHRI COSPLAY ACCESSORIES TUTORIAL
No K/DA Ahri cosplay is complete without the beautiful gold details on her arms and hips. In this tutorial we will show you how to get the finishing touches to complete your K/DA Ahri cosplay and become a popstar!
Tools
Materials
- 1-2 mm EVA foam
- Gold fabric of your choice
- Velcro
Step 1: Pattern
Start by making a template out of paper. Measure it against your body so that you’re sure that the size and shape is correct. This might take a few tries, remember to be patient! The photo on the right is how the shape should end up.
Step 2: Cut Fabric
Once the shape and size is to your liking, cut out all the pieces using 1mm (3/64″) foam. Glue them together using contact glue.
Step 3: Fabric Details
Both designs are not completely flat, as there are details in the layers. Instead of priming and painting the foam, covering them with gold fabric makes the accessories more flexible and fluid. Cut out a square of the fabric. Put it on top of the foam, and use your nails to make the fabric fit into all the nooks and crannies so that the details show. If you don’t have the nails for it, any sharp object should be fine but be careful not to destroy the fabric.
Step 4: Fix the back
Next, glue the rest of the fabric piece on the back of the foam piece. Cut another piece of fabric in the shape of the template, and fasten it on the back. Cut off the excess fabric until it looks even on both sides.
Step 5: Fastening
The arm accessories I simply glued to the fabric on the sleeves of the cosplay, because having a mechanism to take them on and off didn’t really make sense.
Fasten the hip details to the hip with velcro. Hot glue one part of the velcro to the golden hip accessory. Measure on the black bodysuit where the tips of the hip accessory would meet the suit, put a needle on the costume as an indication, and sew on the other part of the velcro. This way they can be easily taken on and off, and because they are so light, they stay out for a whole convention day.
