The Costail moves when you move. Using unique motion technology sensors detect your body movements and motors ensures the tail follows your every move. Simply control it with your hips, by shifting your weight from side to side! It also moves when you are standing still. Check out our How it works page to find even more information!

YES! The Costail has a pause mode that is activated if you stand still for more than 2 seconds. That way you can chill out while there is a small tail party going on in the back. You can check out videos of the pause mode on the How it works page.

The Costail moves according to your movements which means that if you move a lot; the tail moves a lot, and if you slow down the; tail will calm down with you. You are in total control, and with practice you can become quite the tail whisperer. As a second option you can loosen the chord that makes the tail move. This will reduce the movement as well. You can of course change this back back later.

If you want the tail to move more, you can active Boost Mode. You do this by leaning forward or backwards for 5 seconds after turning on the tail. After the tail has calibrated for 5 seconds, you can try to move your hips in a normal position, and the movement should be bigger and the tail more sensitive.

The tail has a mechanical design that ensures its shape stays the same even when it’s turned off. There will even still be some discrete movement when you walk. If you are worried about the tail running out of battery we suggest bringing an extra powerbank so you easily can switch power source if needed.

No, the tails comes without a tail cover so that you can create your own. Design multiple covers and use the tail for numerous cosplays!

You can also purchase covers from us, we have a range of covers to choose from, that can be used right out of the box!

Yes! Tutorial videos are on their way and will be available on our Youtube channel. You can find a simple pattern with measurements for the tail available for download below.
Tail Cover Pattern

The tail can hold up to 250 grams of weight and still have a nice movement, given that the weight is evenly distributed along the tail. To ensure a long battery life, and the best tail experience possible we recommend to make your tail covers as light as possible. You can also buy premade tail covers in our store that are all certified to work well with the Costail.

Yes, you can make the tail longer by using e.g. steel wire or light foam. Please be advised that the tail’s movements get hindered the longer the tail. We recommend not to add any more than 10 cm extra, and always using light materials to do so.

Yes! You can download both the measurements, and a 1:1 printable cover that can be stitched together.

Costail comes as a kit and can be assembled in a short and a long version.

The long version is 72 cm/28 Inches long.
The short version is 44 cm/17 inches long.

All other dimensions are identical for both lenghts:
Diameter tail segments: 37 mm/1,45 inches
Widest part of electronics box: 67,5 mm/2,65 inches
Thickest part of electronics box: 63,5 mm/2,5 inches

The belts are 140 cm long.

If your Costail isn't turning on, make sure the following things are in order:

1. The power bank is fully charged

2. You have removed the micro-usb adapter from the power cable

3. Check to see if the tail is visibly damaged

If the tail still does not turn on when connecting everything and your Costail came with a button on the usb cable:

1. Make sure the button on the cable is ON (check with a wall charger). You can leave this on from now.

2. Connect the power bank to the tail with the cable.

3. Use the power button on the power bank(!) and turn it off by double pressing the button.

4. Turn the power bank and tail on by pressing the power button (on the power bank).

If the tail still won't turn on you can contact the cosgear team and we will try our best to help you.

The Costail is fastened to your hips with two belts. The belts carry a harness that sits comfortably on your lower back. The tail slides into the harness with ease. Put on the tail in 3 easy steps:

1. 1. Attach the harness to the belts. You don't have to use the included belts, if you prefer you can use your own.
2. 2. Fasten the belts around your hips, with the harness placed in the middle of your lower back.
3. 3. Slide the tail into the harness! It can now be taken on and off without removing the belt or the harness.

Yes, the Costail comes with two adjustable one-size-fits-all belts. They are 140 cm wide. The reason there are two belts is because cosplayers who tested our early prototypes pointed out that to smaller belts were easier to hide under their cosplay than a single large belt. It also helps stabilize the tail, and makes sure you have a comfortable tail session! However, you are welcome to use your own belts if you wish to do so, as the harness is compatible with belts of almost all sizes. Check out our How it works page to find even more information!

If the cable doesn't fit, simply remove the Micro-USB adaptor fastened at the end of the cable. This adaptor is used for charging the tail.

The powerbank powers the Costail for intensive use for a minimum of 5 hours straight! This means that with normal use (walking around a convention), the powerbank can be expected to last for more than 5 hours. Check out our How it works page to find even more information!

The Costail has one motor that makes the tail movements! It does give out some sound, however the sound is lowered when the Costail is covered with a tail cover. Check out the How it works page to see sound examples of the product. The sound of the tail is also determined by how much the tail is moving. When in pause mode, it almost makes no sound at all.  

No, the Costail is not waterproof. Keep it away from water and humidity, and we advice you cover it with something waterproof if needed.

If your Costail isn't turning on, make sure the following things are in order:

1. The power bank is fully charged.

2. You have removed the micro-usb adapter from the power cable.

3. Check to see if the tail is visibly damaged

If the tail still does not turn on when connecting everything:

1. If your power cable has a button on it, muke sure it is set to ON (check with a wall charger). You can leave this on from now.

2. Connect the power bank to the tail with the cable.

3. Use the power button on the power bank(!) and turn it off by double pressing the button. Leave it off for a few seconds

4. Turn the power bank and tail on by pressing the power button (on the power bank).

If the tail still won't turn on you can contact the cosgear team and we will try our best to help you.

When you are finished using your Costail it is recommended that you disconnect the power bank from the tail. You can keep the tail assembled, but loosen the thumb nut that holds the wire, so the tail is straight. You should also loosen the strings. This way you avoid putting unnecessary strain on your tail.

The Costail includes a small elastic to hold the power bank. The elastic will fit on the belt of the tail. But it is completely up to you where you want to fasten it. You can hide the power bank to suit your cosplay.

The dimensions of the power bank are approximately 22x45x100 mm (1x2x4 Inches).

The powerbank powers the Costail for intensive use for a minimum of 5 hours straight! This means that with normal use (walking around a convention), the powerbank can be expected to last for more than 5 hours. In technical terms the power bank stores about 24 Wh (6500 mAh @ 3,6 volt) It delivers up to 2,4 Amp @ 5 volt.

We have chosen this exact powerbank because it provides enough power for the tail to work as intended, and because it is the safest powerbank option on the market. We value your safety, and hope that you treat the powerbank with the same caution you would other battery items. However, if you would like to use a different powerbank it must be 5V/2.1A, and be advised you do so at your own risk and against our recommendation.

The power bank can be charged with any USB wall adapter or the USB port on you computer. The same kind you use for your phone. The power bank does not have fast charging and you might experience very slow charing when using it with a quick charger. The necessary cable will be included, but it will not include a wall adapter.

As with any batteries, there is a small risk involved when charging them. Because of this we have decided upon the safest battery solution for the powerbank. However, you should never charge the powerbank unattended, like at night when sleeping or when you are not around to watch it.

Of course! Use it to charge all your electronics when you’re at a convention or whenever. Power banks are super handy, in particular at conventions! Maybe even bring two?

The time it takes to fully charge the batteries will depend on how decharged the battery is and what type of charger you use. The power bank has a built-in over-charge protection circuit, so you shouldn't worry to much about keeping it plugged in for too long. The power bank also has built in indicator lights that will indicate the amount of charge and that will blink during charging. When all lights are on it is done charging.

Cosband Pro is intended to be used for attaching headgear for more advanced costumes and professional cosplayers. Cosband pro consists of a strong headband and a variatey of magnets in different sizes and strengths. 

The Cosband Pro is perfect for all types of headgear from ears, horns, antlers, and antennas, to tentacles, spikes, and feathers. The Cosband Pro can even be used to keep your wig in place. The only requirement is that the headgear has or can have magnets attached to them. Magnets can be attached either using glue or you can simply slide them into the included magnet pouches which can be sewed to your favorite headgear. One set of magnet pouches are included with the Cosband Pro and one extra set will also be included whenever you buy a magnet pack (available here). All the headgear we have in our store will be out-of-the-box compatible with the Cosband Pro, so no sewing or gluing will be necessary.

This is a tough question to answer precisely, since every scenario is different. It will vary with the length, weight and angle of the headgear, the thickness of the wig as well as how the weight is distributed. BUT! After a lot of testing we think that the Cosband Pro will be able to hold most common ears, horns and other headgear. In the graph below we show the area where you should be to make sure it will stay in place. This is based on the use of one of the big magnets in both the ear and the Cosband Pro. We used one medium thickness wig with the magnet placed at around 20 degrees off angle. You should be below the line. But the more magnets, the more holding power! There is no practical limit to how much weight that the Cosband Pro can carry, you can just put more magnets in there. If you are planning on using it with something above the line, you might want to check out our extra magnet packs.
Be also aware that you should try to place as much of the weight in the base, and keep it light in the tips!

Currently we are not working on expanding the fur ear variations. 

No. We do not sell or market any of the products in our store towards children. This is primarily because the different laws and regulations for different countries concerning children's toys are difficult for us as a small company to keep track of. We can therefore not recommend that you buy any of our products to young children. More importantly, the Cosband contain small, but very powerful magnets that if swallowed may result in serious medical issues or even death.

Magnets should be handled with care and kept away from sensitive electronics. The magnets are really strong and can smash together at high speeds if not handled carefully. The magnets are also quite fragile and will quickly break if smashed together or dropped to the floor. Because of this, be sure to protect your eyes and finger using safety goggles and gloves when handling. Keep the magnets away from children and pets that may accidentaly swallow them.

The Cosband Pro is suitable for pretty much every character that has something attached to its head, such as ears, horns, antennas, or tentacles.

No. Cosband Pro is lined with a special velvet that prevents both the headband and your wig-cap from slipping.

The magnets are very strong, but are only dangerous in cases where they can snap together and squash fingers or something similar. It is not dangerous to have magnets close to your head in the way that “magnetic force can cause damage”. If you are using a cochliar implant or other electronic devices on your head, you need to consult with your physician before using the Cosband Pro.

We only use N35 rated magnets, meaning they can withstand up to 80C/176F before starting to demagnetize. This also means that if you chooce to use hot glue to fasten the magnets to your headgear, you should not press the hot-glue gun onto the magnet for an extended period.
