PRIVACY POLICY

This privacy policy describes how Cosgear strives for compliance with the EU laws regarding General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). In this privacy policy we describe how your personal information is processed when you visit https://cosgear.co.

PERSONAL INFORMATION WE COLLECT

When you visit the site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. By continuing to browse the site, you are agreeing to Cosgear’s use of cookies. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this automatically-collected information as “Device Information.”

We collect Device Information using the following technologies:

  • “Cookies” are data files that are placed on your device or computer and often include an anonymous unique identifier. For more information about cookies, and how to disable cookies, visit http://www.allaboutcookies.org. “Log files” track actions occurring on the Site, and collect data including your IP address, browser type, Internet service provider, referring/exit pages, and date/time stamps.

In addition, we may collect data with regards to competitions etc, to help us decide on winners. This data is called identifying information. This may include personal data like name, age, nationality, city of residence, email addresses and social media profiles. In a few cases which requires information to ship products, merchandise or create agreements between customers, the customer’s addresses’ is also collected.

Device information and identifying information is in this policy called personal information.

HOW DO WE USE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?

We use the Device Information that we collect to help us screen for potential risk and fraud (in particular, your IP address), and more generally to improve and optimize our Site (for example, by generating analytics about how our customers browse and interact with the Site, and to assess the success of our marketing and advertising campaigns).

Marketing

Cosgear processes email addresses and the accompanying name for the purpose of sending marketing to the customer as well as finding potential new customers based on similarities between the customer and the potential customer, using social media tools such as lookalike audience and similar. The legal basis for the processing is consent from the registered persons (Personal Data Act § 8(1)), which is voluntary to submit. The data is provided to Cosgear by the customer. By consenting to this privacy policy you are accepting that we can send you advertisements based on your actions on our Site.

Competitions and Development

We use the identifying information to gain an understanding of why our customers are interested in our product, and to use feedback and tips to increase how well our products and services serve our customers. In addition, the data offered by customer’s is used to decide competition winners. This information is stored until it is not in use anymore. When Cosgear no longer has a legal basis for storing and processing the data, all identifying factors about the information is deleted. For example, name, age, email addresses and residence will be deleted, but Cosgear will keep storing answers to questions asked as part of a competition. We will not be able to identify each individual’s answers, but may use them to improve our products and services in a long term manner.

THIRD PARTIES

We share your Personal Information with third parties to help us use your Personal Information as described above.

To analyze and improve the user experience for our customers, we use Hotjar to view anonymous user patterns on our website. Users can in no way identified, we only look at hundreds of behaviour patterns at the time. You can view Hotjar's privacy policy here, and opt out if you wish:

Finally, we may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.

YOUR RIGHTS

If you are a European resident, you have the right to access personal information we hold about you and to ask that your personal information be corrected, updated, or deleted. If you would like to exercise this right, please contact our Data Protection Officer at vetle@cosgear.co.

Additionally, if you are a European resident we note that we are processing your information in order to fulfil contracts we might have with you (for example if you make an order through the Site), or otherwise to pursue our legitimate business interests listed above. Additionally, please note that your information will be transferred outside of Europe, including to Canada and the United States.

CHANGES

We may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons.
